pregnant woman who does not want another abortion

I’ve Already Had an Abortion and Don’t Want Another One. What Are My Options?

If you’ve already faced an unexpected pregnancy and are now experiencing another one, we know this can be a difficult time. You may be reliving your last pregnancy and abortion choice, and now you’re considering your other options.

If this describes your situation, you’ve come to the right place. HOPE Pregnancy Center offers no-cost pregnancy services, support, and resources to ensure you make a decision you can feel confident about now and in the future.

Keep reading to learn about your other options: parenting and adoption.

1. Parenting

Parenting is the choice that happens if you forego an adoption or abortion. You will carry your pregnancy to term, deliver your child, and bring them home.

When weighing your options, it’s essential to outline the pros and cons of each choice.

Parenting is a great responsibility that can also come with building a long-term relationship. If you choose this option, you will commit to caring for another person’s needs from birth until they are about eighteen.

How do you feel about this option? Can you see yourself choosing parenting? Is this something you want?
Make a pros and cons list and explore if parenting could be the option for you.

If you have concerns about finances, housing, and material support, ask HOPE Pregnancy Center about resources and referrals to local organizations. We can ensure you feel equipped to parent.

2. Adoption

If you choose adoption, you will carry your pregnancy to term and then place your child with an adoptive family that you or an agency selected during the adoption planning process.

This option comes with many pros and cons to consider as well.

While you will not be responsible for caring for the child or providing for them, it can be an emotionally challenging decision. You may experience grief after bonding with your child during pregnancy or post-delivery.

At the same time, you are in control of the adoption plan. You choose the adoptive family, the level of contact you’d like, and any additional terms.

You can decide on an anonymous arrangement or one where you have a relationship with the child and family. The future is up to you and your preferences.

Additionally, you may be able to receive support for medical expenses not covered by insurance, adoption expenses, legal fees, and other reasonable costs.

How do you feel about adoption? Could adoption be a part of your story? Only you can decide.
